COVID Numbers Spike in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, and Maharashtra

With the positivity rate inching up from 0.5% to 3.95% in a week, the national capital has witnessed an efflux of Covid 19 numbers in the last two days. Delhi recorded 366 Covid cases on Friday, from the initial cases of 325 on Thursday.  Since last week, the number of home isolation has risen to 48% and currently stands at 574 cases.

The government has said that they are keeping a close eye on the situation and are working on increasing the availability of medicines, Covid beds, and oxygen capacity. New cases have also popped up in Haryana, UP, and Maharashtra with Haryana reporting 1,200 new cases over 14 days. According to the official documents, 1,000 new cases were recorded in the Gurugram district of Haryana. Medical experts have advised making several Covid restrictions including the usage of a mask mandatory. They have also urged the center to step up booster dose administration.

Delhi CM, Aravind Kejriwal has briefed that there is no need to panic as the number of hospitalizations has not increased with Health Minister Satyendra Jain appealing to people to take precautionary jabs as soon as possible. Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia also stated that they have taken a decentralized approach and have asked the schools to make the decisions.
